Worship -- putting God at the center -- is the most important part of our life at First United Methodist, Morehead City. Our worship of God is not limited to a particular hour on Sunday morning! We strive to live in such a way that everything and every moment becomes an offering of worship and devotion to God. And when we come together on Sunday mornings, we pray, sing and grow closer in fellowship to one another and to God. Sunday Morning Worship is the primary place when we connect with the God who creates us, loves us, forgives us and empowers us. Recognizing that not everyone worships in the same way, we offer three services each Sunday in two distinct styles.
Sunday morning services at 8:30 and 11:00 offer a more formal atmosphere, with music provided by the chancel choir at the 11:00 service. A full Communion service is celebrated monthly at both services.
Sunday Morning Contemporary Worship Service (called The Rise) at 9:45am is a service of with a more informal atmosphere, casual dress and a praise band. It begins at 9:45am in the Fellowship Hall, adjoining the Wallace Building. A full Communion service is celebrated monthly during this service as well.
For the season of Lent 2021, our Sunday morning worship will focus on the great Christ Hymn recorded in Paul’s letter to the Philippians: Have this mind in you that was also in Christ Jesus, who being in very nature God, did not count equality with God something to be grasped, rather he emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, begin made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross! Therefore, God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. As disciples of Jesus we seek not only to “walk in his steps”, imitating his behavior, but to begin bearing more and more of his very nature – becoming more like Jesus in our very being. Come join us for worship starting February 21 as we focus onThe Mind of Christ.
Sunday morning services at 9:45am.

We need lots of volunteers to make in person Sunday school a success! Please email us if you would like to serve. We have simplified teaching Sunday school! All our in person classes will watch the virtual Sunday school video, have a snack, and do an activity page to go along with the lesson! Its easy to teach! Anyone can do it. If you have never volunteered before, please note you will need to have a 30 minute "Safe Sanctuaries" session with Pastor Sarah and we can schedule that in person or on zoom.
