Youth are not the future of the church, they are part of the church! We strive to make sure youth feel welcome in all aspects of church life! Our youth group meets Sunday afternoons from 6-7 PM (Labor Day through Memorial Day), Sunday mornings during Sunday school (year round) and for special events throughout the year
NEW YEAR. NEW PLAN. SAME TIME. SAME JESUS.
Sunday Nights 6:00-7:00 PM
Eat dinner before you come! We will be doing some new and different things this year at youth group! Middle schoolers will meet in the fellowship hall for games and small groups. High schoolers will meet in the loft for fellowship time and small groups. We are diving deep into God's word and doing a four week study on Jesus. Who is he? What did he do? Why does it matter to us? Masks are recommended and we hope that all of you will join us as we seek to grow in our faith.
Youth Sunday School is currently not meeting. We encourage our Youth to attend a worship service and Youth Group on Sunday evenings.
Youth ministry meets on Sunday Evenings (the Sunday after Labor Day through the Sunday before Memorial Day) from 6:30 - 7:30 PM for a time of worship, dinner and small groups! We have two small groups for youth:
Magnify - Middle School Youth
Magnify is a group where youth learn how to magnify their faith in God by learning more about the Bible and what we believe as United Methodist Christians
Amplify - High School Youth
Amplify is a group for youth to be able to amplify their faith through service, study, prayer and fellowship.
Our youth praise band is led by Jason Ketchum. We are always welcoming new members! Email us at fumcmhc@gmail.com if you are interested in joining.

Kaleidoscope is a weekend event held for middle schoolers (6th-8th grade) at Camp Don Lee, located just 30 minutes outside of New Bern. During this weekend together, we will gather for four worship services and dive into the four holy habits: prayer, worship, Bible study, and service.
The theme of Kaleidoscope 2021 is “Around the World in Three Days”, which focuses on being loved and accepted as a child of God (1 John 3:1-3). Let us praise God’s name with you in many tongues!
After many meetings and lots of prayer, we have decided to plan Project MHC as an overnight experience for our rising 6th-12th graders this summer! We are limiting our spaces to 50 kids total and have plenty of room to spread out across our church building and limit our group size to no more than 10 kids per sleeping room. Youth will be required to wear masks at all job sites and in our own church members homes while waiting for showers but not during outdoor recreation and in the church building. We will be cleaning multiple times throughout the day and sanitizing bathrooms after each use. We have dropped the price down to $100 per youth (the funds cover the cost of construction projects). Scholarships are abundantly available upon request. We are also offering a multi student discount. Pay full price for the first family member that you register and only pay $50 for each additional sibling. The deadline to sign up is May 23rd. Our projects are secured through Carteret Long Term Recovery Alliance and we will be working throughout the county on homes damaged in Hurricane Florence and Dorian. Project MHC is designed to be an overnight experience so youth participating are required to spend the night. Youth may not come and go from the experience. We understand if youth need to arrive late or leave early but once they leave, they cannot re-join the group. Youth will be required to fill out a health screening form 2 weeks prior to the event and are asked to limit activities so that they can arrive healthy and ready to work.
