Youth are not the future of the church, they are part of the church! We strive to make sure youth feel welcome in all aspects of church life! Our youth group meets Sunday afternoons from 6-7 PM (Labor Day - Memorial Day), Sunday mornings during Sunday school (year round) and for special events throughout the year.
Awesome plans are being made for the 2021-2022 year.
Join us for the kickoff on Sept 12th at 6:00pm.
Youth Sunday School is currently not meeting. We encourage our Youth to attend a worship service and Youth Group on Sunday evenings.
Youth ministry meets on Sunday Evenings (the Sunday after Labor Day through the Sunday before Memorial Day) from 6:00 - 7:00 PM for a time of worship, dinner and small groups! We have two small groups for youth:
Magnify - Middle School Youth
Magnify is a group where youth learn how to magnify their faith in God by learning more about the Bible and what we believe as United Methodist Christians
Amplify - High School Youth
Amplify is a group for youth to be able to amplify their faith through service, study, prayer and fellowship.
Fill out the online parental consent form for 2021-22! This form MUST be filled out prior to your minor child/youth attending activities on campus or off campus trips. If you already attended VBS or Project MHC this summer, you should be good!
Our youth praise band is led by Jason Ketchum. We are always welcoming new members! Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in joining.

Instead of Pilgrimage 2021, which relocated to Rocky Mount, we are hosting our own youth retreat experience. We cherish the memories we have of heading to Fayetteville, NC in the fall for Pilgrimage experiences planned and hosted by the North Carolina Conference of United Methodist Churches (NCCUMC). These events have been transformative in the lives of so many youth and we are so grateful for the work that Christ has been able to do through the ministry of Pilgrimage. This year we are doing something new. We believe that our youth need to be filled with positive, orthodox, evangelical Christian messages to empower and equip them to follow Jesus in an ever changing world. We believe that what our youth group needs to restart this fall after a long season of socially distanced ministry is a trip that will unite us in our faith and build us up for discipleship and service. In order to accomplish these goals, we have decided that we need to build our own trip with our own programming and teaching instead of relying on teaching and programming that is planned and provided by the NCCUMC Pilgrimage team. We intend to use our time together both on our trips and during Sunday evening programming to tackle relevant contemporary issues balanced by timeless truths from scripture. We have chosen the weekend after Pilgrimage for our event and we are aware that there are some individuals who may choose to continue to attend Pilgrimage, even though Pilgrimage is not one of our FUMCMHC Youth Trips. Those who choose to do so will need to make their own plans and accommodations. We hope that we will have a huge number of youth to make plans to attend our FUMCMHC Youth Fall Retreat Weekend. We are looking forward to this new opportunity for our youth. Please note that this decision about Pilgrimage is for this year and is not a permanent decision about the future of attending Pilgrimage events hosted by NCCUMC. This decision was made prayerfully by the Youth Ministry Leadership Team which is made up of the adults who volunteer their time on Sunday evenings, your FUMCMHC Pastors, and Waylon Bell. Those who have questions or comments are welcome to reach out to Pastor Powell, Pastor Sarah, or Waylon Bell.
Each year the FUMC Scholarship Committee awards scholarships to deserving students who plan to continue their education beyond the high school level. Priority for awards goes to FUMC members with financial need, but other community residents may also apply. Email application to email@example.com with the subject line: Scholarship Application. To be considered, completed applications must be received in the church office by April 30, 2021.
